About Charles Vandersluys & Monhegan Island Limited Edition Fine Art Photography

Charles Vandersluys, M.Photog., Cr., is an internationally recognized Master Photographer based in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Born in May 1952, Charles has dedicated over 48 years to professional photography, building a distinguished career in portrait, wedding, and fine art photography.

Charles, alongside his wife Jacqueline, made history as the first photographers from Niagara Falls to earn both the Master Photographer and Craftsman degrees through Professional Photographers of America (PPA). They were also pioneers in international photographic education, teaching a professional degree program in Saint Lucia, West Indies, for nine years.

Throughout his career, Charles has photographed notable figures including Prime Minister Joe Clark, Justin and Margaret Trudeau, and acclaimed actor Christopher Lloyd, among many others.

Charles’s passion for landscape and fine art photography led him to Monhegan Island, Maine—a historic and picturesque one-square-mile island known for its rugged coastal beauty, thriving arts community, and over 400 years of history.

First visiting in 1995 while accompanying Jacqueline during her plein air painting workshops, Charles developed a deep connection to the island. Monhegan is renowned for its lobstering heritage, scenic hiking trails, birdwatching opportunities, artist studios, and more than 300 species of wildflowers. Visitors can explore landmarks such as the Monhegan Museum and Lighthouse, Lupine Gallery, and local favorites like The Island Inn and The Fish House.
